Our Charity Work
At Broadway Pharmacy, we are proud to support the many charities that are close to ours and our patient's hearts.
Broadway Pharmacy is located in Fulwood, a community in which the local people have always supported and embraced all the services that offer. To help pay back and support our local community each year we try to raise awareness and money for charities close to our patient’s hearts. In the past few years we have held many fundraising events. Below are just some of the many amazing charities that we, and our patients, have supported.
Motor Neurone Disease Association
The Motor Neurone Disease Association is the only national charity in England, Wales and Northern Ireland focused on improving access to care, research and campaigning for those affected by Motor Neurone Disease. They have over 7,000 active volunteers and around 170 paid staff, all dedicated to improving the lives of people affected by MND, now and in the future. MNDA fund and promote research that leads to new understanding and treatments, in the search for a cure for MND. They campaign and raise awareness so the needs of people with MND and everyone who cares for them are recognised and addressed.
We have held several events in the pharmacy, including a ladies' night and a cake morning, to raise money to support this charity.
The British Heart Foundation is a charity that leads the fight to end heart disease, and are the biggest independent funder of cardiovascular research in the UK (over £100 million every year). They attempt to raise awareness of the problems associated with heart disease and aim to improve the health and lifestyle of the population.
To support this charity, we have held a ladies' charity night in-store to raise money for this great cause, organised cake sales and we have a dedicated charity hub in the pharmacy to help our patients stay more active to combat heart disease.
Cash for Kids responds to the needs of children in our communities so they can live life to the full and realise their individual potential. In 2016, Cash for Kids raised over £20 million to support over 500,000 children in various locations around the UK. At Christmas, this charity run an appeal called Mission Christmas where members of the public are invited to donate a gift for an underprivileged child aged 18 and under in the local area.
Over the last couple of years, we have been proud to be named a drop-off point for donations from the public, we actively publicise this to our patients and staff have donated countless gifts to support this fantastic charity.
